Work Detail

Manage a single work: track details, codes, splits, documents and who can see it.

Overview

The work page is where you manage a single track. Open it from a project's Works tab or from the Metadata Registry. The header shows the cover, whether it's released, the Registered seal and its ISRC, with Export metadata (a PDF) and, for those allowed, Delete work.

Under the header, a checklist tracks how registry-ready the work is: for a released track its ISRC, release date and Spotify link, then splits that total 100% and linked documents. Click any item to jump to it.

Track details

Edit fields in place; each saves as you go. Track name, Work type, Genre and Label, then the codes and release details. Turn on Released to fill in the ISRC, UPC, release date and Spotify link, and once the work is released and has a Spotify link, use Pull from Spotify to fill any empty details and an empty cover from the track. A picture you upload always wins.

ISRC

Identifies the recording. Each master gets its own. Format: CC-XXX-YY-NNNNN.

ISWC

Identifies the song itself (melody and lyrics). Format: T-NNN.NNN.NNN-C.

UPC

Identifies the release (album, EP or single). A 12-digit barcode.

Royalty splits

Each party has a Master share (the recording) and a Publishing share (the song). Click Edit to change names, roles and percentages, or Get splits from the contract to read them from a linked contract (this uses credits). SoundExchange shares, when present, are shown on their own: SoundExchange pays them directly, so they aren't counted in the master total.

Totals should reach 100%
When you can see the full split, each total turns amber until it reaches 100%. A work-only collaborator usually sees only their own share, so the check doesn't apply to them.

Documents

Contracts, split sheets and project files tied to this work. Click Add documents to pick from the project's files or upload new ones. Contracts used to read splits are added here for you.

Inviting collaborators

The People & access panel is for the work's owner and admins, project owners and admins, and the artist's owners.

1

Click Invite collaborator

Choose Someone from the royalty splits or Someone new. You can also pick from your roster to fill in their details.
2

Fill in the details

Their email, name and Role on this work, an Access level (Viewer or Admin), and their split as master and publishing percentages.
3

Choose what they see

A Viewer always sees Their own split. Add the Full ownership breakdown or specific documents if they need them. Admins see and edit everything.
4

Send invitation

They get an email with their split and a link to review it. The link expires in 48 hours. They click Accept invitation on that page, or Accept or Decline under Shared with me → Pending in their Metadata Registry (this works after the link expires too).

Registration

A work is Registered to the person who added it as soon as it's created, and inviting collaborators never changes that. Each invitation is Pending until that person accepts or declines; People & access shows each person as Pending, Accepted or Declined. Someone who declined can be invited again.

Access & permissions

Three kinds of people can reach a work:

Artist owners

You, for your personal artist, or every member of the team that owns the artist. They see everything under the artist.

Project members

Added to the project with a role. They see every work in that project.

Work collaborators

Invited to one work. They see only that work, and only what was shared with them.

When to use which

Use project members for your own people who need the whole project. Use work collaborators for producers, writers and featured artists who should only see their own work and share.

What a collaborator sees
Anyone who can't edit sees a View only note naming the work's owner, with their email, so they know who to ask for edit access or a fuller view. The Your access card shows their role.
