Metadata Registry

Track ownership, add works and invite collaborators to confirm their splits.

Overview

The Metadata Registry tracks ownership across every work you're on. Open it from the Tools page. It lists your works and the works others have shared with you, and it's where you add new ones with Add work.

Dashboard

The top line counts your works, artists and the works shared with you. Below it:

My works / Shared with me

Switch between works you own and works other people have shared with you.

Filters

All, Released, Unreleased, and Needs attention (a work with a release date but no ISRC).

Search & sort

Search by title, ISRC, artist or project. Sort by Recently added, Title A–Z or Release date.

Release status at a glance

Each work shows whether it's Released or Unreleased. Every work is registered to you as soon as you add it.

Shared with me: Accepted and Pending

Accepted lists the works you've joined. Pending lists invitations waiting on you, with the work, your role and your split. Accept or Decline them there.

Adding a work

Click Add work. The same steps open from a project's Works tab.

1

Where does this work belong?

Pick the artist and project. You can add a new artist or project without leaving. This step is skipped when you start from a project page.
2

Is this track released?

For a released track, search Spotify and confirm what it found: ISRC, release date, label, genre, work type, Spotify link and the credited artists. For an unreleased track, enter what you know now and fill in the rest later.
3

Royalty splits

Choose Get splits from the contract or I'll add them manually. To read them from contracts, pick contracts already in the project or upload PDFs; reading uses credits. If several contracts disagree, the first value is kept and you're asked to correct the rows.
4

Confirm and add

A final summary shows every party and split before the work is saved.
Contracts are attached automatically
Any contract used to read splits is added to the work's Documents, so the paper trail stays with the work.

The work page

Click any work to open its page. The Work Detail guide covers it in full.

Royalty splits

Master and publishing shares per party, with totals. SoundExchange shares are shown separately and never counted in the master total.

Documents

Contracts and split sheets linked to the work. Pick from the project's files or upload new ones.

People & access

Invite collaborators with their split, and choose exactly what each person can see.

Registry-ready & Export metadata

A checklist of what's on file (codes, splits, documents), plus Export metadata to download a PDF.

Registration

A work is Registered to you as soon as you add it. Inviting collaborators never changes that. Each invitation is Pending until that person accepts or declines, and People & access on the work page shows each person's answer: Pending, Accepted or Declined.

Inviting collaborators

On the work page, Invite collaborator (in People & access) asks for their email, name, role on the work, access level and split. They get an email showing their split, with a link to review it; the link expires in 48 hours. They click Accept invitation on that page, or Accept or Decline under Shared with me → Pending in their Metadata Registry, which still works after the link expires.

What they can see
A collaborator sees only that work: their own split, plus anything you choose to share, such as the full ownership breakdown or specific documents. Give someone the Admin access level to let them see and edit everything on the work.
